As we all know, the sand blasting machine and shot blasting machine both can be used to do surface cleaning, removing scale, improving roughness and increasing surface adhesion of the work pieces.And these 2 machines both widely used in many industries, such as shipbuilding and maintenance.But do you know the difference of them?
1. Power system: sandblasting uses compressed air as a power to the diameter of 40 ~ 120 target sand or 0.1 ~ 2.0 or so shot to the surface of the work piece. But shot blasting uses a motor to drive the impeller body to rotate, relying on the role of centrifugal force, throwing the diameter of 0.2 ~ 3.0 balls (there are cast shots, cut shots, stainless steel shots, etc.) to the surface of the work piece.
2. Application: though these 2 machines all can used in repair shipbuilding, auto parts, aircraft parts, gun tank surface, bridge, steel structure, glass, steel plate, pipeline industry, but the sandblasting machine often used in work piece with complex structure, the shot blasting machine often used in work piece with simple structure.
3. Efficiency: it is normal that the sand blasting machine often is manual, and the shot blasting machine is automatic or semi-automatic. So the efficiency of the sand blasting machine is lower than shot blasting machine. Of course, there also have full automatic sand blasting machine, just need more costs. Generally, we choose sand blasting machine for small batch, and shot blasting machine for large batch.
4. Vulnerable parts: the vulnerable parts of the shot blasting machine mainly are blasting wheel(impeller/directional set/protective board) and filter cartridge, but in the sand blasting machine is the spray gun, glass maintenance window and filter cartridge.
